Antioxidants - what are they?
Antioxidants are substances in food that can prevent oxidation processes in the body.
Oxygen, the vital element that we breathe in through the air ensuring our energy supply, not only has positive properties, but also the bad one, that it oxidizes substances in the body, which in best case become useless and in worst case, harmful to health. The human metabolism provides a whole range of functions that prevent this unwanted oxidation very effectively. However, it requires many natural antioxidants, which are found in sufficient quantities in healthy food. These protect cells from oxidation and thus from premature aging processes that otherwise can lead to many diseases.
